World Roof Public School
The school in Yasin Valley (2000 m above sea level) in northwestern Pakistan was
established a few years ago by a small local action group. Their aim is to provide
high-quality and modern education for young people - especially girls - from 7th to 10th
grade, following 6 years of primary school. Now the children can stay with their family in
their hometown and don’t have to move to the city to go to school.
On my first visit in September 2007 the school based in the village of Hundur had 6 little
classrooms. It is financed by school fees paid by the parents for whom it’s often very
hard to raise that money. Because of the lack of money the teacher’s salary is less than 50
Euro (USD 65). In those days I supported the school with a little donation and was also
letting them use my old notebook |
